• Question: How many other people are going on Tim Peake's mission or is he going on his own?

      He will be only ESA astronaut travelling to the space station, but he will have one American (Timothy Kopra) and one Russian astronaut (Yuri Malenchenko) travelling with him. There will also be three astronauts on the ISS when he arrives, making 6 astronauts in total.

      Hi!
      To add something to what Jon wrote:
      because of the particular conditions, they have decided to make the last Soyuz come back after Tim will arrive onboard the ISS. This means that for 1 week there will actually be 9 astronauts living together on the space station, this is something that doesn’t happen very frequently!

      But this won’t be the record. In 2009, once we had 13 astronauts on the ISS at the same time! It must have been really crowded!
