Columbus Flight Directors answered on 12 Oct 2015:
Simon: Hi All!
Ive been lucky enought to work on some really interesting projects. For the Space Station program I have worked on:
Columbus: ESA’s Space Laboratory on ISS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus_(ISS_module)
ATV: ESA’s Cargo vehicle to the ISS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automated_Transfer_Vehicle
Nodes 2 & 3: Two of the three main modules which allow different elements of the space station to be connected together: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_(ISS_module)
Before that I used to work on the SKYNET program in the UK which are a network on Military Communications Satellites in geostationary orbit. As well as helping to maintain the fleet, I was involved in the Launches and first operations of SKYNET 4 D, E and F! See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_(satellite)

Beth Healey answered on 13 Oct 2015:
We are running 7 different experiments down here! Here is a summary of some of them: http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Human_Spaceflight/Concordia/This_year_s_science
For example we are making weekly video diaries (like big brother!!), collecting snow samples looking for extremophile bacteria, doing functional MRI scans of our brains, monitoring our activity and sleep patterns using activity watches etc….
The variety makes it really interesting 🙂
