      Hi Imo,
I think that what people don’t expect about our job and in general about space travel, is how much preparation is needed for it.

All the experiments that Tim will do starting from December have been in preparation for more than one year. We have been studying and preparing them over and over and for many of them it is already planned on which day exactly they will be done.
It’s only thanks to a careful and detailed work, that almost everything runs smoothly and successfully!

      Hi Imo,

I think when people think of medical doctors they usually expect us to only work in hospitals. However medicine is a really wide field and there are lot’s of opportunities to work in different areas with a medical degree. For example law, journalism, education, research and of course my job here working as a researcher for the European Space Agency in Antarctica.

I would never have imagined myself playing around in the snow collecting samples (looking for bacteria) when I signed up for medical school!! 😉
