Hi Daria!
The rockets are really high but they are not very large, so when you see them from close they very impressive. The Soyuz rocket that will launch Tim into space is 45 m high, this something as tall as a 15 storey building.But the largest rocket ever flying to space, the Saturn V, was much bigger than that. It was 110 m hight, as tall as a 36 storey building!
I saw it recently on display when I visited NASA’s Huntsville Space Center in July. Look at the last picture in our profile, I just posted a picture of me below the engines. This gives you an idea of how immense that was!PS: when we met in the chat, I mentioned that my wife’s name is also Daria. What I didn’t mention, is that she also works at mission control for Tim’s mission! So now we know that there will be at least two Darias looking after Tim when he’s in space! 😉
